The Global Autism Convention is being hosted by a consortium of organizations working towards improving and delivering autism specific therapies and education services, advocacy and manpower training. The first Global Autism Convention was held in 2011 and was well received. This year we want to make it bigger with a wider range of topics.

Academy for Severe Handicaps and Autism

Established in 1995, Academy for Severe Handicaps and Autism provides assessments, early intervention and a day school program along with a comprehensive set of therapies to individuals with autism spectrum disorders.

 

Autism Society of India

Established in 2006, the aim of Autism Society of India, is to function as a national advocacy body for concerted action on all matters including policy, education rights, awareness and sensitization relating to persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families.

Disability NGOs Alliance

DNA was founded by leading disability and voluntary organizations in Karnataka to work together for the growth of the disability sector. The Alliance engages with Government, corporate and social sector organizations to draw attention towards disability and create an inclusive society that empower persons with disability and their families.

Karnataka State Parivaar Federation (KSPF)

It is the leading Parent body in the state that advocates for the persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and affiliated to the Parivaar- the National Confederation. Several state governments have appointed many of Parivaar state leaders on the Advisory Boards representing Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities sector.

Shristi Special Academy

Shristi Special Academy is a non-profit organisation that was founded in June 1995 by three special educators. The institute has been working to improve the quality of life of persons with disabilities by making them self-reliant. The academy provides various therapies, educational and vocational programs.

St. Johns Medical College Hospital

The St. Johns Medical College Hospital was established in 1963 and provides emergency, outpatient, inpatient, day-care, community outreach, pastoral and after-life care through a 1450 bedded facility and with over approximately 3000 dedicated, competent and service-oriented staff. The Hospital serves children with autism through its Child Psychiatry Services within the Department of Psychiatry and also through the St.John’s Center for Children with Special needs, known as the Unit of Hope. This center, established nearly 14 years ago, has a multidisciplinary team including Pediatricians, Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologist, Special Educator, Orthopedicians, ENT team including Speech Therapy Consultants, PMR experts, Ophthalmologists, Dentist and Medical Social Workers besides experts in Community Health.

ALFAA – Assisted Living for Autistic Adults

ALFAA was established with the primary objective to create good quality living conditions and related facilities for adults with autism. The organization provides good short and long term residential facilities

CBR Network

CBR NETWORK is a charitable Trust working in the field of disability since 1992 to promote Community Based Rehabilitation of persons with disabilities leading inclusive development. CBR Network is a member of Global Partnership for Disability and Development, associate member of Rehabilitation International. The trust develops resource materials, manuals for parents, teachers, doctors, and health workers on rehabilitation, epilepsy and care of senior citizens and also conduct human resource development programs

Karnataka Parents Association for Mentally Retarded Citizens

An advocacy organization founded by a group of parents of persons with intellectual and other developmental disabilities [PwIDDs] in 1978, the KPAMRC is active in promoting better infrastructure and community based rehabilitation for the welfare of persons with Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. 

Rotary District 3190

Rotary District 3190 is a large district in the southern part of India. 97 Clubs form this illustrious District. The Clubs belong to eight revenue districts of Karnataka – Bangalore, Bangalore rural, Tumkur, Mandya, Ramanagaram, Chikkaballapur, Kolar and Chittor from Andhra Pradesh. Rotary District 3190 is known for its service projects primarily in health and education.
 

Spastics Society of Karnataka (SSK)

Established in 1982, The Society provides a Comprehensive Package of Diagnostic and Intervention Services to persons with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Mental Retardation, Multiple Disabilities and Learning Disabilities. SSK also provides certified courses for skilled manpower and community based rehabilitation services

Sunshine Autism Trust

Starting as an integrated school in 1995 with the aim of teaching preschool children with autism in an inclusive environment, Sunshine became a full fledged centre for children with autism in 2001. The centre provides early intervention, assessments, speech and occupational therapy, mother child programs and training.
